Digital Film Process

The digital film process developed by Planet X in 1997 is now a common film industry practice called a "Digital Intermedary". ddSign’s creative partner ‘Planet X’ first developed the process in 1997 for cinema commercials. Later, the first short film to use the process was “Pretty Penny” by Shane Luther in 1999, and the first feature was “Trojan Warrior” in 2002.

The process digitises the entire film at 2K, and edits, colour grades, and creates the masters of the film digitally. The video masters are generated from the digital data, and the digital data is reordered to 35mm film for cinema release.
